Reliance JioPhone is a 4G VoLTE capable feature phone, that is being considered as a game-changer for the Indian market. The Jio Phone was announced at 40th AGM meeting of Reliance Industries on July 21. Ever since Mukesh Ambani announced that the Jio Phone will available ‘effectively’ free of cost, there has been a big buzz in the market around it. The phone will be available for a refundable security deposit of Rs 1,500 which as per Ambani’s speech.

The news for pre-booking was confirmed by Reliance through its Twitter handle on Wednesday. “The wait is over. India ka smartphone – #JioPhone is here! Pre-booking starts 24th August at 5 PM. #WithLoveFromJio,” Jio had tweeted.

 

The online booking from August 24 can be made via MyJio app. When booking online, users have to pay Rs 500 as the pre-booking amount and users will require either a debit or credit card for this or can pay from the JioMoney app itself. The rest of the booking amount, which is Rs 1000 has to be paid at the time of the delivery of the device.

  • Jio will give access to unlimited data on the Jio Phone.
  • Jio will provide free voice and unlimited data at only Rs 153 per month.
  • Two weekly plans will be offered. One for Rs. 53 and other a 2 day plan for Rs 23 that provide similar value.

How to book Jio Phone offline ?

  • Visit the authorised Jio retailer (either an authorised store or a Reliance Jio outlet).
  • By using Aadhaar, one person will be allowed to get only one unit across the country (one Jio Phone per Aadhaar number).
  • After providing your Aadhaar details, your information will be uploaded into the centralised software which will assign you a token number.
  • This number will be required at the time of phone delivery.

How to book Free Jio Phone online?

Online pre-registration commencement: 24 August, 2017

Delivery: September 2017

Steps for booking :

  • Visit official website of the phone jio.com or jiofreephone.org.
  • As the online registration starts, Image/Button will be displayed on homepage.
  • • Click on to JIO Free Mobile Phone Registration/ Pre-Booking Button.
  • Fill up your credentials and other required information such as contact number, address and others.
  • • Enter the shipping address for delivery.
  • Pay the security deposit of Rs 1,500 via debit/credit card or opt for net banking.
  • The Jio Phone will be booked. The delivery will be made on ‘First Come First Serve’ basis.

Note – The Jio.com website was facing some issues and it read ‘Content Server Error’. When users click on the Book Now option for the Reliance JioPhone, error 404 is appearing on the website. This is probably due to the huge traffic to book the initial unit.
