“Never Settle”… The tagline is enough to prove itself. After a long month of rumors, leaks and speculations, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has finally launched its much awaited flagship OnePlus 5 today, June 20.

One Plus has gained huge popularity since its first launch of its Flagship Killer OnePlus One phone back in 2014. Since then the company has been launching awesome high spec phones at compelling prices.

After the huge success of the OnePlus 3 and the 3T, the company has decided to take the 2017 flagship phone even further with the One Plus 5.

Hardware: The OnePlus 5 comes with the latest and the highly powerful Snapdragon 835 Octa Core processor with 8GB RAM coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The Snapdragon 835 processor is claimed to be much faster than its last year’s predecessor whereas the Adreno 540 GPU offers 25 percent more graphics performance.

Camera: The new OnePlus 5 has dual camera at the back like its competitor iPhone 7 plus. OnePlus claims its camera to be the “highest resolution dual-camera system on a smartphone today”. The main rare camera is made up of a 16-megapixel (Sony IMX398 sensor, 1.12-micron pixels) with an f/1.7 aperture, which is said to capture 34 percent more light than the OnePlus 3T (which had an aperture of f/2.0), coupled with a 20-megapixel telephoto camera (Sony IMX350 sensor, 1-micron pixels) with an f/2.6 aperture.

Design: The new OnePlus 5 is made up of anodized aluminium and has a thickness of about 7.25mm. The design closely resembles its competitor iPhone 7 Plus. The OnePlus 5 comes with a 5.5 inch display with a 1080p Full HD screen. The screen is made up of Gorilla glass 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5. The phone comes with a 3300mAh non-removable battery.

Connectivity: The OnePlus 5 comes with Bluetooth 5.0 out of the box. It supports Dual nano SIM card. The phone comes in two variants i.e 64/128 GB storage variants. It supports 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi band with 4G connectivity and NFC. The Android version that comes with this phone  is Android Nougat 7.1.1 with a slight customization of the well know Oxygen OS.

Finally the OnePlus comes with the brilliantly designed Dash Charger which is currently the fastest charger in the market. It is significantly faster than other fast chargers and it has been praised by all the One Plus users for its efficiency.

Price and Availability: OnePlus 5 price starts at $479 (roughly Rs. 31,000) in US, and EUR 499 (roughly Rs. 35,900) in selected European countries. OnePlus has started accepting pre-orders in those regions right now and has claimed to begin shipping on Wednesday, June 21, which is six days ahead of general sales that begin on June 27. However in India, Amazon has confirmed that sale of the smartphone will begin from Thursday i.e 22nd June 4:30pm IST.
