Many people may have heard about fake doctors and all kinds of incidents happening around due to these kinds of fake doctors. In a shocking incident, a man posing as a fake doctor has infected 21 persons with the deadly HIV virus using contaminated needles and syringes. This fake doctor was treating the poor villagers in the northern part of India, where people are mostly affected by many kinds of diseases like colds, diarrhea, coughs, and allergies reported by a health official on Tuesday.
According to the official Sushil Choudhury, when the incident of HIV infections came to light last year December the culprit Rajendra Yadav fled to Bangarmau a small town in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Choudhury said that the infections have spread with the continuous use of the same contaminated needles and the villagers told that they hardly ever saw Yadav changing the needles.
History of HIV in India:
India has the second largest population and among this many people are living with the HIV and AIDS infectious virus. In India, HIV was first detected in the year 1986 among the sex workers in Chennai.
According to a survey by National Aids Control Organisation in India, the prevalence of AIDS was 0.27 in 2013 in India which was down from 0.41 in the year 2002.
According to a report of UNAIDS 2.1 million of people lives in India with the HIV infection at the end of the year 2016. Out of which 9,100 are children who were living under the age of 15. The report also told that during the past few years, 20 percent annual fall in new infections has been registered by India.
In poor villages, Indian’s health care institutions face a massive shortage of doctors and hospitals thousands of poor people from such villages seek help from a person who poses as fake doctors in the urge of cheap medical treatment and facilities.
Backdrop of Fake Doctor :
Choudhury said that Yadav would visit villages on his bicycle and give injections to any kinds of ailments to the villagers just for money. He would treat patients outdoors during many of his visits.
Choudhury said “This was an important lead. We set up special medical camps in villages in the area and checked 566 people, and 21 were found to be HIV positive.”
According to a project manager, Mehtab Alam of Raza Hussain Memorial Charitable Trust said fake doctors always use the same needle for injection purposes and never uses disposable syringes. They would rather use one needle and glass syringes to inject lots of people for any illness. This charitable trust is currently working with the HIV and AIDS infected patient of this region. He said, “Villagers are ignorant about hygiene”.

When there was a sudden increase in the HIV cases state authorities got alerted when the detection happened last year December.
